Departure from the hotel to Campos Melam Pier, and board the ferryboat to cross the bay (1h20min crossing). Enjoy a walking tour of calm and charming Alcântara. The town, once home to the state’s rural elite, is now a peaceful place that preserves the ruins and cobbled streets of the colonial period. In Alcântara we find the ruins of a place that was once one of the most important cities in Maranhão, almost forgotten by the rest of the country for most of the 20th century, with its restored colonial houses and rich African cultural influence. Return to São Luís by ferry at the end of the day.
