Meeting of the Waters

This adventure begins with a boat trip along the dark waters of the Rio Negro. The boat sails close to the shores of Manaus, offering views of the floating port, the Customs House and the Municipal Market, built in the golden days of rubber extraction at the beginning of the 20th century. Finally, you reach the place where the waters meet – one of nature’s most admirable displays! At this point, the muddy waters of the Solimões River meet the dark waters of the Negro River and continue to flow together for several kilometers without mixing, forming the Amazon River. The regional boat sails over the two different colors of water, providing an incredible spectacle!
On the way to the natural and unspoiled Janauari Lake, you’ll be able to see the huts of the “ribeirinhos” (as the natives are called), clustered on the banks of the river, a different look at the rustic life of the people of the Amazon who live by the river. At Lago Janauari, you’ll be able to see the water lilies and then take a trip into the forest in motorized canoes, along the igarapés (narrow tributaries of the river). The interesting comments from the guides during the trip back to the boat and to the city are an indispensable complement to the spectacle.

IMPORTANT – DURING THE RIVER’S EBB (DROUGHT – BETWEEN SEPTEMBER AND FEBRUARY), IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO WALK ALONG THE HOLES AND STREAMS, AND THIS ACTIVITY IS REPLACED BY A LIGHT WALK IN THE JUNGLE.
