The ruins of the Jesuit Missions in São Miguel are among the oldest in the Seven Peoples region (7 ethnic groups) and the first to be declared a national heritage site, a symbol of territorial aggregation, national unity and the identity of the “Gauchos”.
The ruins were approved as a testimony to the birth of the new world, generated by the expansion of Europe in the 17th century, and by the Jesuit process of civilization. This monument is not only part of Brazilian history, but also an important milestone in world history. Visit Soledade and the stone exhibition, as well as the Mission Site Museum.
