A place where the Borarí Indians once lived, today a village of around 3,000 inhabitants who live in what the British publication “The Guardian” named number 1 of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Brazil. Lago Verde, also known as Lago dos Muiraquitãs (amulets given by the Indians to visitors), is Alter do Chão’s “hiding place”. Beaches of fine white sand, transparent blue-green water, and the opposite bank of the Tapajós between 9 and 10 km away give it a seaside feel. Walk to the “Island of Love” for a delicious swim in the waters of Lago Verde and lunch. Return to the hotel.
