A stroll along the waterfront reveals the incessant movement of the port. Vessels of all sizes come and go, bringing and taking everything!
At the Municipal Market you’ll find the day’s offerings, fresh fish, unknown fruits, vegetables and a whole host of forest products. The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Conception and the cross given by Karl Philipp von Martius, a botanist who was rescued after being shipwrecked in front of the city; the Municipal Museum; the stores in the center and those selling Amazonian handicrafts with beautiful pieces of Tapajonic ceramics, tucumã straw basketry and traditional handloom hammocks; dried fruit and many other products.
The highlight is the meeting of the waters of the Amazon and Tapajós rivers, a unique and unforgettable spectacle.
